This series of narrative images began in 2016 when boats arriving to Australian shores were either lost at sea, turned away or sent to off shore detention centres. During that time, and still today (2023) I am reminded that in some way or another, we too arrived on the shores of Australia as an immigrant - my Father did from Germany, as did my Mothers family which originated in Ireland. The distance travelled, in variety of fonts and sizes refers to the multiple languages and cultures that make up Australia.
